I hate TCS and its work culture.

Pros
Most of the employee may be feeling there is a great job security in TCS. That is wrong. To be in TCS, employee should learn politics, buttering, back biting etc etc. Specially managers are illiterate and having very less technical and process skill. No pre defined traning program for the new hire and experienced hires. No proper document for any of the project and technology. Partiality is playing a vital role in TCS. After seeing this when employee will approach HR and leads for project change. The real game will start by the leads. First point instead of finding the solution for the problem they will find a way to prove their mistake was right to improve employee skill. Then employee will be frustrated and will feel I spoiled my valuable time, health, mental satispection, familiar peace, knowledge. With these desatispection financial problem will start because the employee has already broken his blanced life. After that only 1 option left. He will leave TCS with a tearfull eye. This is the meaning of job security in TCS. I am not expecting to write about other points.
Cons
If you dont have option and really need money to support your family. Then only join. Still I will say if you are getting other option. Better to accept that option instead of TCS. We are in to IT. So always we have multiple chance to go onsite in project work. Not only TCS. All the company has the onsite oppertunity. Try to be a part of well organized company like Accenture, Microsoft, Dell, etc etc. Where you will feel value of knowledge and value of life. After leaving TCS, i have never thought to be a part of TCS again because TCS push me and my wife to file pition for divorce. TCS forced me to stay away from my parents due to mental harashment. TCS forced me to stay away from my 3 years daughter. For whom i am creating a day dream and night dream in every moment. This is the best part of my life I can say and all this things has been given to me by TCS. Now I am in micosoft and trying hard to get my old life back. May god help me.

1. They hired me to spoil business of my previous employer. In fact TCS hired the entire group. After hiring they just kept us in bench for 6 months and gave poor rating for non performance. And subsequently deducted salary as per TCS policy.

Pros
You can draw salary without doing any work and even without going to office a single day in a month.
Cons
1. First of all, everybody in TCS are simple LIAR. HR will lie about salary at the time of joining. Manager will lie about work profile at the time of joining the project. Sometime I feel, TCS Managers are getting salary for telling lie to employee. One HR manager told me TCS salary are like weather forecasting. another HR manager told me, you may need to pay TCS for working in TCS. I have written proof. 2. They deduct salary of a person after joining. Don't give allocation even if your are actively working in a project. And hence, salary cut. 3. I have never seen such regionalism in any other organisation in India like TCS. North manager does not like south manager and vise a versa, Telegu manager does not like Tamil, Tamil manager does not like Kannadiga etc. etc. 4. There are few managers who takes money from recruitment firm. Those managers recruit people even if current project is over populated. In my project, they could not even allocate a bug per head per week. I mentioned the same to Regional HR manager, but no action was taken. This is overt secret in TCS. 5. TCS encourages its employee to use personal laptop or computer to connect and work in client network. I have written proof. I raised the concern to appropriate authority. But No Action was taken, in fact the guy from grievance cell was trying to implicate one fresher for the same.

I joined TCS as a Subject Matter Expert on Energy & Utilities Industry. I had lots of dreams and faith that TCS will leverage my hands on experience and I can also grow big by helping in cutting edge, pro-Industry solutions which was never fulfilled.

Pros
Nothing, apart from the fact that it is my first IT Organisation. Also, the medical insurance policy that TCS provides in India, is one of the best in class from every angle like - coverage, benefits, and even domiciliary claims.
Cons
Countless things to say. It is a place for few fortunate ones who can become manager's blue eyed associate by unfair means. No Organisation is bad, it's their employees, HR and senior management who create the work culture and make it good or bad. Some of the very niche characteristics of this Organization's culture, 1. Hazy Policies 2. Favoritism and Partiality 3. Poor Remuneration especially at Onsite locations 4. Worst Promotion policy 5. Very frequent changes in policies 6. Appraisal process is full of anomalies 7. Manager's are never accountable 8. No Training policy for Freshers. Only 3 months ILP and then push them to projects or to bench. These 3 months training is nothing and not good enough to develop skills. Company expects a fresher will learn from work in real projects. That's too much of an ask and very risky for the project as well. 9. No clear career development path 10. The only Tata Group Company which does not have a human touch or pro-employee policies / benefits. There are so many other things which I can mention based on my experience in TCS. It is becoming the worst place to work over the last one decade. Employees are forced into unfavourable situation in the name of Cost savings. Giving one personal example - I just returned back from US couple of months back due to a visa issue and have applied for fresh stamping. in the mean time my Project which is based at Noida wanted me to transfer from my base location Kolkata to Noida. Since I am subject to visa stamping and then will return back to US, I wanted a deputation instead of transfer. Deputation means I will be paid a little extra in terms of deputation allowances, on top of my salary. Project management denied that in the name of cost savings and forced me to take transfer to Noida without any extra pay. Now I am in Noida staying alone and bearing double cost of settlement as I did not bring my family here as I did not want to disturb them after returning from US.

Worked as a developer.

Pros
Life at TCS is all dependant on the type of Project one is allocated to but still one can find these things good. 1. Job Security is best. 2. A good work-life balance (at few times things may become hectic but at other times it's balanced). 3. Too many people to interact with. 4. Chance to work on the very latest technologies (again it's project specific). 5. Onsite possibility which is decided as per the following(just some unanimous conclusion), a) The project has On-site work. b) Years of working at TCS by the employee. c) Immeasurable Knowledge with equally impressive articulation skill with good soft skills (Soft-skill is very important). d) Very good at fooling people and convincing them for one's good. 6. Work-environment depends on the type of associates one works with(mine was good).
Cons
Things which needs to be looked into, 1. Having a clear roadmap to execute a given work load needs to be improved. 2. Senior associates should too invest some time at coding with novice developers to help them learn better. 3. Blame game is bad if you have such people in your project. 4. Ample time needs to be given to developers for application development, things should not be in a hurry. 5. Salary Hike is not so impressive for junior associates who are starting there career with TCS. Good associates feel forced to leave the company just because of low salary increment. If this criteria is looked upon, TCS can retain good quality employees. 6. Infrastructure Team at TCS needs to work quickly. 7. Approval for any activity from higher level management takes too much time, needs to have a good, smooth and quick workflow. 8. People who work are made to work too much. But those who don't work are neither asked to work nor any action is taken against them(politics). 9. Annual Appraisal process needs to be reviewed, current one is not upto the mark as most people work only during appraisals, or they get good ratings just because they act close to their appraisers.

I enjoyed my work, because I mingle with everyone soon. TCS is a great company to work for, for all the skillset. You have get good support from the mgmt team and the team members... It depends upon the project you join. I give 5 stars to TCS for the work

Pros
TCS is Awesome company to work in IT industry, you get all the support from the mgmt team and freedom to work.
Cons
Compensation was very low for my experience & competency. I was not able to balance my personal life with the salary paid by TCS. I had really faced difficult time in terms of money. Work wise, learnings, knowledge & Role was awesome interms of professional life. I really give 5 stars.. Company also should thing about the employees, who has been decades in the company, when company needs support.. we have put our heart & soul to the growth of the company, when they need it, supporting clients 24/7 without giving rest to our body sometimes.. they should also not leave employee family to float on floods. TCS contribute for the flood relief fund & other welfare for the society as CSR.. I feel that first TCS should take care of there family members there employee, who are suffering for bread & butter. Literally on my last day of my release, I was emotional, when I spoke to my ex manager. I have done so much to the company, taken many risks & faced lot of challenges.. supported the company more than my family... But I realised late that, company treats employees as a Sugarcane juice.. use it how much you can, when you need them. So many of my friends at TCS are suffering in the same fashion... Atleast company should wake up & support other employees, as per there experience & competency for the market standards, likewise when they hire a new comers. I pray God to make this happen soon and help many employees family.

Hectic and boring..N consideration for your hard work.

Pros
Work life balance is there. No frequent weekend workings.job security is there. No politics. Teammates are from different cultural background and work happily with each other. Salary n other compnsations are good. Mediclaim policies n insurance are excellent.
Cons
Learning n training is WebEx based which doesn't help that effectively, moreover employee is occupied in his daily so kuch that he couldn't give time to extra time other activities rather than work, which eventually effects his goals n appraisals. Your manager doesn't release you from one account n use u till they have project.moving resources from one project to another eventually distracts the focus of employee from his work. Some projects are really worst to work. But you can't deny those projects so forcefully you have to work. There is so much biasness shown when it comes to appraisals. All HR RMG N PM are not helpfull when it comes to the release n promotions n appraisals.any complaint you make will eventually turned as your mistake only. Tcs HRs are pathetic..No buddy i hve seen helpful when u r in trouble. On-site opportunity are there but only for those who does buttering with leads n managers. Hard working people are treated as donkeys. For showing ur innovations u need to work on weekend or seat extra in office after completing ur 9 hrs duty..Work satisfaction is less. I worked here for 2.5 years but now got bored due to motivation or consideration in d project. Nobody appreciates your for hard work. Nd ur smart work is compansate with any single mistake as if ur d biggest culprit of everthing.

Timings are sometimes rigid. When there is not much workload but still manager expects the Employee to stay in office for 9.5 hrs per day. But when workload is high and associate has spent more than 9.5hrs per day then manager will not try to compensate.

Pros
Since 2014 TCS has improved its training options by providing subscriptions to SafariBooksOnline, Lynda and TCS internal platforms like Fresco play(also has T factor calculation measuring the breadth and depth of associate knowledge on various courses), TCS skillsoft, etc. Subscriptions to entertainment options are also provided like Magzster etc. Also, TCS provides good onsite opportunities for Indians as well unlike many other non-Indian competitors of similar service-based companies which are based in India where they try to give onsite only for few months
Cons
The notice period in TCS India is too high (3 months). This is made so high to reduce attrition rather than to ensure continuity of business by providing Knowledge Transfer(KT). If the company does not like an associate then it can terminate him by giving 3 months basic salary(not full-time salary) even if the employee wants to stay there and receive full-time salary during those 3 months. But if an associate has resigned from the company and wants to buyout the notice period then he needs prior approval from TCS When Bands(ratings) are given during H2(Oct-Mar) then people who do certifications obviously get better ratings. But some people who do extra activities(like IPMS, reminder emails about L&D, CML, etc) get better ratings rather than people who deliver quality work and better customer satisfaction because there is no differentiation between people who do average work and people who do good work (and take responsibility for the code they deliver)

In one word, boring.

Pros
Few things that are good: 1. Job security. In my opinion 80% of the people who are in TCS is because of job security. TCS holds onto their employees even in tough situations in market although there was a large layoff in recent past. Still job security is a plus. 2.Work-life balance: It is good. Most of the time there are no pressure and also work is not much challenging. So usually after the timid learning curve it is easy work-wise. In support projects timing may be an issue because one may have to support weekend or at night but those are compensated. In development projects timing at beginning is casual but at time of delivery it is haywire because always there are no time but lot of development left. This should give an idea of poor management. 3. Benefits: Nice health benefits for employee and family, easy on leaves about maternity, wedding etc.
Cons
1. Growth: Not much scope of growth. Freshers are kept on bench just to show employee strength to potential clients. Most of the time freshers are given boring work like data entry or documentation etc. 2. Salary: As the work is not challenging, salary is minimal too. Freshers get 3.5 lpa approx. 3. Work environment: Not really great. Talk about technology is far less heard than gossips. Fear of getting bad rating is the motivation of work. So most of the time people deliver the bare minimum. There is an 8 hrs office time policy but actual work happens for 3-4 hrs only. 4. Politics: Thick management layer and micromanaged. So politics are everywhere. So much so that actual work become secondary to all the mails and meetings and screenshots. 5. Learning: You will definitely learn suave moves of office politics, crafty way to send mails and may be few other skills. 6. Training: Training are given based on project requirements. If an employee has an interest in different technologies, most likely he or she will not a get a chance easily. Resource management is very poor. Employee are forcefully recruited to projects sometime even without their acknowledgement.

Same repetitive thing we used to do for a year and that's data entry. HR will not tell you clearly the job role. But ultimately you will have to do same thing there. It's better they start hiring less educated ppl. Ultimately all have to do is data entry

Pros
I was so excited to work for TCS. But my process TL & Managers had made it worst for me. They made us work like slaves. And even if we achieved target, the credits will be transferred to their favorite colleagues. There is so much of partiality & negative atmosphere inside the company. Higher authorities doesn't have any manners or humanity. They just came to earn money & get their work done. They will try to put a good fake image before clients. They don't know that prior to clients, empoloyes come. They will hire candidates as much as possible, but they don't know to manage them. They are just mass recruiters. It's just a show off company destroying the career of people . Only thing they know is to torture the employees. They just try to squeeze the energy of employees as much as possible. There is no ethics & no work culture.
Cons
There is no career growth. I saw people doing the same mononotonous work even after spending 5-6 years there. I don't know about IT section. But, BPS industry is really sick. They don't care to say hello to each other. They don't even care to sing national songs on precious days. They don't even give proper leaves & holidays. They don't have any social life or culture. Just fake people & show off. Only thing which matters to them is work hour & target. TCS is full of Corporate slaves & materialistic ppl.

I have worked in Telecom and Banking domain at Chennai and pune location respectively. In banking domain i worked in BFSI canada projects which includes Royal bank of canada and toronto bank. As QA analyst i have performed testing of web based application

Pros
TCS is a multinational company, its having good projects/accounts(lots of onsite positions) if you drop in some of them then your career is bright like anything ..it has different domains and company is also focusing on trending technologies. job security 100%. career growth depends on which account you are landing in after joining. salary as per the market standards. In TCS most of the account wont track your in and out time, you can finish your work and can leave the office . No WFH. I can say work life balance is best. Organization has 36% of women employees(it is the best organization for women employees)
Cons
As usual Politics and everything is here happens through process that are defined, which are time consuming. Hike percentage is relatively low compared to others.
