harsh jain - Resource Planning Executive

Current Employee

4.0

I work as a Resource Planning Executive. My task is basically to provide the opportunities to the resources on bench, how to utilise them in an optimized way in their respective and desired domains.

Pros
The best part about working with Larsen and Toubro is that there is no work pressure all the time. Especially in this era where people get encumbered with multiple tasks at a time with stringent deadlines, but working on L&T is a big time relief. Also, it amazes me how even at a nascent stage, an employee's visibility to the authorities is quite noticeable with almost thousands of resources working together. All in all, I like the work culture, people, staff and of course the work from home facility (for selected projects). ?
Cons
I think that being a service based company, there is slow or negligible growth in terms of advanced skill development. Also, the package they provide is a bit unsatisfactory commensurating to the amount of work they give.

Waste of time

Pros
There is no dearth for projects, you will be put inside a challenging environment.Have to travel a lot and u get your salary and out of pocket expenses on time.
Cons
There is no timings you have to work all seven days a week, work pressure is very high. Work is mostly of clerical in nature no involvement of skill or knowledge. Work-life balance is very poor there is no life after work as you have to work 14 -15 hrs a day. The remuneration given is very less plus there is very limited leaves. You cant imagine a career growth as long as you know someone in the higher management. No one will help/guide in the work you're doing. Onsite work will be exhausting as you will be put in remote places where you can hardly find any food or water and the extreme climatic conditions may put pressure on physical as well as mental health.

I was PNM head leading a team of Plant and machinery availability as per job requirements.

Pros
It is a system based organisations where people don’t tend to make short cuts. People are dedicated but work pressure leads to imbalance. The team mates are very good and appraisal system is well established. The training’s and learning is also very good. Salary is as per prevailing market but salary structure is something different.
Cons
The delays due to system bottle necks lead to very high pressure, high speed working words the end of the project.

Very bad

Pros
I am a btech graduate. Joined at l&t for one year. No work satisfaction. No life satisfaction. No job satisfaction. To be frank Japan employe who works for their whole life with one employee feels much better than working in L&T. No value for an engine.
Cons
The above are my dislikes. Their is no likes. Because the whole year I kept my whole hearted efforts to continue in L&T outsourcing as a department staff. But it does't worked thier more than a year. Because I quit the job their now I got a govt job .

My work is managing people ( workman). It is very interesting and handling various type of people( workman/Police/Politicians/Goons/Unions etc.). One side implementing management policies and other side to provide good working atmosphere for site team.

Pros
The company is allowing staff to take own decisions and implement. In Construction all achievements are team work. Follow instructions of superiors and discuss for improvement better implementation of policies.Salary and other work environment and work life balance are good in the industry. I like the culture of this company. Appraisal systems are transparent and always give proper appreciation for the right persons and chance for improvement for needy persons. As far as the job security is concern it is good for the people working hard/sincere. I also like the employee re-hire policy here.
Cons
People can be given chance to work in their native at least once in service. Financial approval system has to be speed-up.

Pros
While working with L&T the best thing you get is a exposure to the vast environment and exposure to the best technology available. But then again workload allotted will be so much that once you enter the job arena, you hardly get time to enhance, if one can attain this balance you can get good exposure to technology.
Cons
I wouldn't suggest one to enter Larsen & Toubro Ltd, though being a cooperate company is for the region of extensive work hours ( Monday to Saturday - 8.00 AM to 8.30 PM, Half Days on Sunday, 7 official holidays yearly only) , its hard in fact near to impossible to have the Professional and Personal Life balance due to above. The cooperate office politics is a very cheap politics and you can never manage out as it involves racism also to much extent. There are near to no leaves and company desires you to work 24 x7, also no importance is given to your personal life. Thus, it is only suggested one that if you want to join here you should forget personal life and come here only with view of earning money
