Pros
I resigned from the post of head testing & commissioning. Shipbuilding IC has been flooded with direct recruitment of Naval officers who retired as Commander in senior level. Naval working scenario is way different than corporate's. Any person selected in armed forces generally makes up to the post of commander through time promotion. Those who are good, go on to serve the country as captain and above. Those who are not worthy, resigns as commander after completing their bond. By Bringing such people onboard, the whole process suffers and i don't recollect when our IC was in green. I hear that shipbuilding has been merged as a new entity, that is a good decision- or else the folly committed would have been pushed under the carpet. I strongly believe that the process of recruitment has to be changed in all industries to give equal opportunity to all as per their present experience. I fail to understand the concept of having them or for that matter a IITians for production and testing jobs. Their knowledge can be used in R&D, and design department. Field work requires hands-on experience. I never joined L&T shipbuilding Ltd for salary, it was my passion to work for India's engineering giant. After around 4 years and one promotion, i chose to resign as the work environment was getting worse, adding up to the misery as my boss was worried that i may supercede him in rank. I got my promotion in 2.5 years and he went on to get his in 4 years. All in all it was the failure of management to organize the hirechy intelligently. It happened that my boss also resigned in another 6 months of service after my exist.
Cons
Money was never my agenda. All was good. Except HR and management policies which were vague and at times stupid

The company is open to innovation and readily adopts latest technology. I love the fact that I am a part of a team that markets reliable, high-quality products and has a global client base. As a result, I get to travel abroad, especially to the US and Canada. But on-site travel is completely dependent on your project and client’s location. Mine is a US based client and they have some offices in Toronto, hence I got a B1 visa quickly. Another plus point is that my colleagues come from various cultural backgrounds, and we work happily in collaboration. I also like the employee re-hire policy here.
Cons
Compensation is decent, but growth is slow. The work pressure is very high. Sometimes, I have to work 14-18 hours straight in a day as I have to attend client calls in the evening and sometimes late into the night. Managers do not value an individuals’ unique strengths, which is why I have to take back my suggestions most of the times. I do receive appreciation emails from my client, but they mostly go unnoticed during my mid-year appraisals. Also, there is no on-job training for freshers, hence senior folks like me have to guide them step-by-step, which is a pain sometimes.

Team work is good, regular intervals training's are conducting,job security is 100 % if your not done wrong things, basically civil based company so MEP service lern to know is not possible, salary is less as per construction line & other fesilities are good (accommodation, transportation,op) mainly this appraisal part spoiled our growing why because once in a starting Superior had given average rating due to not know about that person and he doesn't want to ask to know about that person with his in charge. Due to thoes condition our rating will remain same few years if lucky will not knock the door.due to this promotion will come late. Company will not provide any tours office transportation only. Every where internally politics will be there I told due to this also site level persons doesn't get worthble ratings. For learning civil part it good gift for staff but electrical scope less and its given to back to back contractors. Working environment is good and thier eip system is very good. Innovation in civil fentastic we did several projects but MEPF not that much satisfied. Working and family life completely two different angles due to it's a roaming job most of the people leave bcz thier children's education wife doing job and parents gardening in home town like several problems and mostly this working hour's will kill our personal time enjoyment with family completely 12hrs +travel Total 14hrs min. And possibilities are thier bcz in l&t 12 devision if employees want to switch to other devisio suffling it's good to know about other devision for innovative ideas implications. Over all lot of people depends on l&t to live there life

Team work is good Less Salary & once rating down means slowly growth this will spoil our life, training session are good but site people will get very less chance to attend.job sequirty is there

L&T is no doubt a good company especially for the freshers to start your carrier with. It is already a brand in itself. L&T mostly hires fresh graduates from jamia milia islamia University (Delhi). Others has to have a good experience to get into as the company do not hires much as compared to other companies. About working culture, there is always a good working environment where you enjoy the work and gives you the opportunity to perform various challenging duties which helps you to improve your skills and yourself as a whole. Flexi timing adds feather to the cap. Overall, L&T it is a good company to work with and I personally love to be a part of such an organization.
Cons
There is not much to dislike about the company but sometimes there is internal politics in promotions (which you see in every other organization). As they don't hire much so the working responsiblities of each and every employee increases which make you fatigue. As it is a 9:10 hours job and and you get alternate Saturdays off so it is difficult to maintain work life balance properly.

To work, with reputable organizations as L&T, first, यू need to be well prepared.. Yurr employeer would give you cushioned highly organized skill training.. Here well versed, well cultured, well organized candidates can only survive.. As an world class reputed organization, yurr employer has yu to maintain a certain amount of STANDARD MAINTAINED.. yurr employeer has to compete and maintain international standard.. There will be research, for better and advancement for standard maintenence.. The comply needs highly skilled and all weather beatable candidates.. SO ON.. AND SO ON.. SO ALL BEST WISHES TO L&T

Nothing.. Only that, the EMPLOYEER DIES THAT NOT SHARE DISCOMFORT AND INTERNAL PROBLEMS AMOUNGST THE EMPLOYEES. dukh batne se, takliff Kam jati hai. और hal ati hai.. AFTER ALL, a single employee is also human.. He also has certain limitations and basic problems and weaknesses..

I had a dream to work with L & T-S & L. That's why primarily there was an excitement but presently it was so boring due to the work culture and also non security of job due to lack of project.

Pros
There is so many training facility. Employee benefit / facility is better in respect to other company and it is also good for one who wants to be involved long time with L & T-S & L.
Cons
(1)There is a difference between the committed CTC (as per appointment letter) and actual salary in hand. Because there are so many hidden rules, accordingly the net salary is become too less after deducting that type of hidden cost. (2) There is no any large scale project. So that there is no any job security for most of the employee. In this situation, many employee try to relocate to another company for the stability. (3) Regarding the leave , there is suffix and prefix system, that's why the employee who came from different state , have to face problem. As per company's rules and regulation, PL (Privealage leave) will be evaluated depending on basic salary but LOP (Loss of pay ) will be calculated depending on gross salary. (4) Most of the person who hold senior level or management post , may say to improve or build the the new one for facilitating the present and upcoming project but they can not accept the built up or newly one system even after getting approval with validation. (5) In office culture, it is clearly appeared that there is difference w.r.t behavior and provided adjustable facility between two Gujarati and between one Gujarati & one from other community or coming from other state. (6) There is almost negligible increment w.r.t the other company. (7) There is so many diplomatic character and environment rather than the actual involvement for project and further growth of the company.

I am Linux admin, assigned in one domestic project. Some times work was good and boring as well. sometimes worked outside office hour without extra pay , sometimes I had nothing to in office...game zone. overall I liked it

I joined this company as a fresher in support domain. they had provided 3 months of training in 7-8 tech. after that they assign as per the requirement, I got Linux admin job then, first team was awesome, manager Ramsy Lasrado , he helped a lot in providing exposure to all the resources what he can to help us in leaning. Back then LnT has policies of assigning mentor as well apart from project and team (not sure if it is still there). this scheme was very helpful as you can discuss with him about lots of topic related to domain outside project scenario aslo. job security is good. you will get lot of opportunities, but keep in mind that it might be possible that sometimes company wants your efforts in those fields which you don't like or don't want to. This happens in almost all IT companies. each year also you will get training program to attend. not very extensive but it's nice to have something in place. training programs are also compulsory in some way. appraisal is also good here, but again this depends upon project/company/ and your performance.
Cons
changing from one project to another is very tough here , you need to follow never ending hierarchy process and at the end you will listen one comment ; "there project is in critical phase , we need you here right now, will surely help you in switching project". and believe me for some it worked but for many they had to change the company for project change:) . In your early phase of IT life , exposure to multiple projects give you an opportunity of fast learning. politics...it is in every company, I don't like it.

It was not boring. But very frustrating often because of the attitude of so called blue eyed boys who wouldn't move easily due to which you own work suffers.

Pros
It was a great company to work for. It offered a lot of freedom on the work front, though it depended on the boss you are working with. Because of the outdated performance appraisal system, which compells one to be a sychophant to go up the ladder, individual contribution and initiatives are stunted. Corporate human resources department steers the HR policies across the company with little regard to individual business requirements and realities. The company is now driven by individuals who are interested only in their personal gains. Notwithstanding the negative points, the company is thriving because of the dedicated manpower and the legacy of Mr Henning Hock Larsen, the founder and the life energy of the company. Recently, a few people at the top are making big bugs by selling off profit making businesses in the garb of restructuring the company. Therefore, stability of any of the businesses are not guaranteed. Engineers looking for short term employment may join this company.
Cons
Sychophancy all across the company is dragging the company down and this is the one thing that I dislike most.

My work schedule remain change at every location, since construction of every product manufacturing place, needed different skills, which is entrusted to me by organisation time to time. Bulk material handling, Paper Mill, Sugar Mill, Hydro Electric.

Hari Om, I am fine with the teammates, training from co. was not insufficient, since compitation increased from year 2001, job security dropped to average, I have got retirement after enough grouth till Project Manager. Take home was gradually increasing during My stay. Travel was required for project based staff, and enjoyed the travel too. Politics available. Learning is must in LnT. Ofcourse innovation is our daily routine for project personnel, Just not recorded! . Work life balance is left to employees. Overall it's mix of katta n mitta.
Cons
90 Percentage like is expressed, naturally 10 Percentage dislike is asked, Hence, 10 percentage dislike is just dissolved in like.

Salery system is exelent., This is good organisation for learning and. New innovationsss, specialized projects. Acomodation facility also good. Work system is good but working enviornment is bad. This organisation conduct Some training system and dovelopement system for stafff thats is a good system. About QUALITY & SAFETY there is a good system. LnT known about their Quality and safety .
Cons
Company salary system and banefits are good but growths is slow for DIPLOMA ENG. Work pressure is very high at all levels, does not matter you are training engineer or supervisor or oficer or managers. APPRAISAL SYSTEM is the wrost system. Duty timing min. 12 hrs to 24hrs. Depend on work. If you want for holidays only for 7days after 5-6 month, p.m always denied. And if you have any urgency and you goes to leave then samjhlo ki APPRESSAL nahi milegaa. Company system are decent but at site level P.M ruler like TANASAHAA.
